Join us for a brand new book club focused on Psychological Thrillers, Mysteries, and Suspenseful Stories. If you love those gripping tales that leave you on the edge of your seat, trying to figure out whodunnit or how your hero/heroine is going to get themselves out of this jam... then this might be the book club for you. The club will meet the third Wednesday of each month to discuss a different book.  

Get excited and energized about reading with the YPL Men's Book Club, a monthly group that centers on thought provoking and lively discussions about fascinating and diverse books from all different genres. Recent titles have included historical fiction, sci-fi/fantasy, literary fiction, biography, historical nonfiction, and even best sellers. Newcomers are always welcome. The group meets at 7:00 pm on the 3rd Thursday of every month.  

The Roaming Readers Walking Club is a group of book lovers who just love to get out in the fresh air, get some exercise, spend some time with nature, and chat about books with like-minded folks. The group does not read a book each month like a typical book club, instead, they just share what they've been reading and what they like while taking a leisurely stroll through the woods at Hoover Forest Preserve. We meet at Hoover Forest Preserve (11285 W Fox Rd, Yorkville) in the first parking lot (closest to Fox Rd - before you cross the railroad tracks) and walk from there. Weather permitting. Check with the library the day before if there is rain or excessive ice.  

Join us at YPL every Friday at 10:30 for Drop In Story Time. This story time is held in the Youth Service Department of the library. A volunteer from The Friends of the Library is our special reader.

Children can come to the library, select a book and read to a furry friend.  All therapy dogs and handlers have been certified by an accredited organization.  This program was designed originally because children feel less pressure to read to a dog than an adult so, it was meant to be a way to help struggling readers or even just encourage reading.  It is open to all levels of readers and non-readers. 

Fans of the spooky, the scary, the creepy, and the eerie should join us for our brand new Horror Book Club. We will meet on the 4th Monday of each month to discuss a new book each month.  

Whether you are looking to write the next great thriller, your biography, a short story, or even develop your professional writing skills, this program may be for you. This group is for all people who are passionate about words. Its intent is to create a positive, encouraging, honest, and fun atmosphere that will support and motivate each person to achieve excellence in writing. Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the Month.

Do you crochet, knit, needlepoint, sew, or quilt? If so, get together with fellow "threaders" for a creativity blast! Come work on your unfinished projects, show off finished projects, and check out what other people are doing. "Threads & More" group is an informal friendly group that welcomes all interest and abilities. The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month. This program is for adults 18 and older. No registration is required. Come see what this is all about. 

A book club for readers who love to eat... or is it for eaters who love to read? Has a great book ever inspired you to try a new restaurant? Have you ever tried to recreate a recipe described in a story? Did you fall into a trance during the Eat portion of Eat, Pray, Love and forget to finish the book? This might be the book club for you! In this brand new book club, we will read some great books and bring in recipes and treats to share that were inspired by the reading we did that month.
